In 2023, the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection reported an estimated 81 accidents per month, leaving an average of 2-3 accidents per day on the section of the Transpeninsular Highway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Car accidents can have devastating consequences, both physically and emotionally, and are often avoidable. Respect the speed limits:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the most basic and effective measures to reduce the risk of accidents is to respect speed limits. Speed limits are designed taking into account several factors, such as road type, traffic conditions, and pedestrian safety. Exceeding these limits is not only illegal, but also significantly increases the risk of a collision and serious injury in the event of an accident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Maintain a safe distance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Another important measure is to maintain an adequate distance between our vehicle and the one in front. This gives us more time to react. The easiest way to maintain a safe following distance is to follow the 3-second rule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n When the vehicle in front of you passes a fixed object on the road, such as a sign or other landmark, it begins counting to three.
