{"id":3183,"date":"2023-02-27T22:33:14","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T04:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsp.clinic\/?p=3183"},"modified":"2024-01-29T11:46:33","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T17:46:33","slug":"microbiota-intestinal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsp.clinic\/en\/microbiota-intestinal\/","title":{"rendered":"Let&#039;s talk about the intestinal microbiota"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Does our intestinal microbiota influence our state of health? <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">cheer up?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsp.clinic\/en\/team\/dra-walkiria-inzunza-romero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Walkiria Inzunza Romero<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">With this title many will wonder what my brain and the bacteria in my body have to do with it. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">intestine, but in reality there is a broad relationship, first we will talk about the microbiota, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Inside our intestine there is a complex system full of bacteria that <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">They perform immunity functions which protect us from infections by regulating <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Most of the time there is a balance between bacteria that are good for us and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">preventing bacteria that are bad for our body from colonizing us, fulfilling<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">besides <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">endocrine functions, and barrier functions where these good bacteria secrete <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">substances that recreate a barrier that does not allow toxins to pass from the intestine to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">our bloodstream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Our microbiota is made up of bacteria, fungi, viruses, yeasts and it is believed that <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">even parasites, that everything together creates a balance.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">But what does our intestine and our brain have to do with it if they are so far apart? <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">from the other, our body is not managed separately, in reality everything is connected and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Anything that happens to our body is going to affect us on a systematic level. Our <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">brain is widely linked to our intestine, it has been shown in studies of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">image that when the brain receives intestinal stimuli, key regions can be activated <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of the brain that regulate emotions (1).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">In a study carried out by Kim CS et Al (2) they studied a group of elderly people in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">who wanted to analyze whether supplementing with probiotics improved their cognitive function <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and their mood, they had a control group with a placebo and another to which they were given <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">probiotics, finding that the group that was supplemented with probiotics decreased <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">their inflammation, they had improvement in their mental flexibility and their stress level decreased.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The relationship between intestinal bacteria and the brain has been studied for years, there is <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a term that is coined for what is related to the substances that influence this, the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">psychobiotics, this is how probiotics that cause alterations in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">mood, anxiety and cognitive functions, currently these include not only the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">probiotics and prebiotics that influence the relationship between bacteria and<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">brain (3)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Prebiotics are specialized fibers that act like fertilizer, which <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">stimulates the growth of good bacteria in our microbiota.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">And now perhaps we will wonder how we can take care of our intestinal microbiota. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">To have good brain health and therefore a better mood, the key is to carry <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a balanced diet and taking care of our psyche, the consumption of prebiotics helps us <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">can help, foods rich in prebiotics are green leafy vegetables, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">bananas, onion, garlic, soy and artichokes, there are also tablets with <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">prebiotics that can benefit the gastrointestinal flora, eating plenty of fruits and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">vegetables, reduce our consumption of red meat and saturated fats, practice <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">meditation, having good sleeping habits and managing stress by practicing measures of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">relaxation, consume fermented foods and sometimes supplement with <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">probiotics, always consulting your doctor because not all people need <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">supplement with probiotics and it depends on the problems you want to combat.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">strains that have to be supplemented.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">If you are considering supplementing with probiotics or prebiotics, always consult your doctor. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">doctor to make sure you consume the right ones for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsp.clinic\/en\/team\/dra-walkiria-inzunza-romero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Walkiria Inzunza Romero MD.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Let&#039;s talk about the intestinal microbiota with Dr. Walkiria Inzunza\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B29wOrOv8Ys?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Bibliography<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">1.
